Frequently Asked Questions

I have answered a few common travel questions below.  If you have a specific question, please click the button below to contact me directly!

General

Do you need to have a lot of money to travel?

Absolutely not! You don't have to go far to experience a new culture or visit a new country. My job is to plan a trip for you within your budget. Working with me, as your travel agent, gets you discounts that you would not have access to otherwise.

Do I need to speak the language of the country I am going to?

No, most people in other countries speak English (especially in airports, hotels, and tourist attractions). However, I recommend learning basic phrases (Hello, Please, Thank you, Bathroom) just in case.

Do I need to purchase travel insurance?

Travel insurance is highly recommended especially if you are traveling outside of the United States. I can add travel insurance to any trip that I plan for you.

How does foreign currency work?

Once you know the currency type for the country that you are visiting, you will want to do some research to determine the current exchange rate. Next, you will need to decide whether it is more economical to change your currency prior to your trip, or once you have arrived at your destination. Most large banks exchange currency, but I recommend that you call ahead to confirm. In addition to banks, currency exchange is also available at airports, hotels and ATMs at your destination. Please note that some credit cards charge foreign currency fees so you will want to check with your credit card company prior to traveling.

What are some packing necessities?

Besides all necessary clothing and toiletries, I recommend bringing power adapters, an external phone or camera battery and a cross body bag to securely carry your money/passport/ID.

How do I get my phone to work internationally?

The first step is to contact your current cell phone provider and inform them of your travel and inquire about what international plans they offer. Some plans only cover phone calls, others include use of data and texting. Most major companies will offer an international plan for 1 month (or longer if needed). Keep in mind, iPhone users can still use their iMessage capabilities when connected to wifi.

What if I get lost while traveling?

Always keeps a copy of your hotel's address and phone number with you. You can ask the hotel for a business card or write it down yourself. If you get lost, we recommend finding the nearest hotel or restaurant and ask them to assist you in getting back to your hotel. Hotels and restaurant staff are in the hospitality business and are accustomed to helping tourists.

Passports: Do I need one? How long do they take to get?

If you are traveling outside of the United States then yes, you will be required to have a passport to travel and they will check it at the airport before your flight or at the port before your cruise. If you need to get a passport, start the application process as soon as you know your travel dates. Generally, it takes 7-10 weeks to receive your passport once they receive your application. If you need to get a passport expedited or have other passport questions, please visit the link to the right for more information.

Why should I use a travel agent?

Our global network of trusted travel partners make it possible for me to customize your vacation to perfectly match your needs. I work within your budget to find you the vacation of your dreams without breaking the bank. Things happen like missed plane connections, unpredictable weather or even family emergencies. When you book with me, I am always available to assist you and am a quick phone call, text, or email away.

All Inclusive

Is everything really included?

All inclusive resorts are properties where most (if not all) of the elements of your trip are prepaid: accommodations, unlimited food & drinks, activities and entertainment. However, each resort can vary slightly so I will confirm with you before booking.

What about alcohol?

For the most part, yes. However, some resorts charge extra for alcoholic drinks or drinks with premium liquor. I will confirm for you prior to booking.

Are excursions included?

Unfortunately, no. Excursions off property are typically not included and will be at an additional cost. Resort activities are included but please note that some resorts will have additional charges for certain activities such as motorized water sports or spa services.

Cruises

Is cruising expensive?

Just like any vacation, cruise pricing can range from extremely affordable to super pricey. Remember that your cruise fare includes accommodations, meals, activities (including free children's programs) and nighttime entertainment. When you factor in all of that, it can be a great deal!

What happens if I get seasick?

Most ships are so big and well stabilized that you can hardly tell that the boat is moving and seasickness is unlikely. Radar on the ships help them to outrun bad weather. If you happen to get seasick, you can purchase over-the-counter medication like Dramamine to help. Other remedies are ginger capsules or acupressure wristbands.

What if I miss getting back on the boat at a port stop?

The first step is making sure that this doesn't happen by keeping an eye on the time. Make sure to book excursions directly through the cruise line, because they guarantee an on time return to the ship. If you miss the boat, you will have two options: meeting the ship at the next port or heading home. You will be responsible for any costs incurred if this does happen.
